Charlie Sheen claimed he was ready to be raked over the coals, but it never hurts to bring in reinforcements, just in case.

"We're just here to support him, but in case he tries to run," Duane "Dog" Chapman, who along with his wife is a good friend of Sheen's, told E! News on the red carpet last night at the taping of the actor's Comedy Central roast. "We've got a few informants scattered among the crowd, so we're going to be sure he takes this like a man."

Well, the man of the hour did not try to make a run for it, but it sounds as if it would have been awfully hard to skip out if he had.

But both the Dog the Bounty Hunter star and his missus seemed genuinely excited to see Sheen in the spotlight, albeit one meant to highlight his many, many indiscretions.

"We're excited about his comeback, we really are," Beth told us. "He deserves a second chance. He's spent a lot of his life in Hollywood, he's done a lot for a lot of people, he's really made people laugh over the years...Dog and I stand for second chances and anybody who's stepping up for a sceocnd chance, wer'e going to stand right here with him.

"And, if he tries to leave, we'll grab him."

If Sheen did manage to break loose, how long does Chapman think he'd be able to catch up with the wily star?

"Could I find him? Yes," the reality star said. "But it'd take more than two days."

Happily, we only have to wait a week to see Sheen's roasters in action. The Comedy Central special premieres Sept. 19.
