IT'S A DOG-EAT-DOG WORLD OUT THERE AS GSN ANNOUNCES AN ALL-NEW "DOG PARK SUPERSTARS" ONE-HOUR SPECIAL
NEW CO-HOST BEN GLEIB ("Chelsea Lately") AND LAURA NATIVO LEAD LIVELY, HILARIOUS COMPETITION BETWEEN CANINE-AND-OWNER TEAMS
"Dog Park Superstars" Premieres September 25 at 8:00pm ET/PT
Santa Monica, CA - August 29, 2011 - GSN (Game Show Network) is definitely barking up the right tree as the network announced today the return of an audience favorite: an all-new one-hour special, DOG PARK SUPERSTARS, the action-filled show in which dogs and their owners compete in intriguing and funny games of skill, teamwork and obedience. Comedian Ben Gleib ("Chelsea Lately") now joins actress-producer-canine life coach Laura Nativo ("Greatest American Dog") as co-host. DOG PARK SUPERSTARS premieres on Sunday, September 25th at 8:00 pm ET/ PT.
In DOG PARK SUPERSTARS, five dog/owner teams of every shape and size face a wild roster of challenges with plenty of surprise twists and turns. Some games require the skills of the animal, while others will call on the abilities of the owner - the only way they can successfully take on the challenge is by working together. All the action is highlighted by the show's sportscaster-style hosts as they deliver colorful play-by-play, expert analysis and breathless interviews.
DOG PARK SUPERSTARS viewers get to know the competitors and cheer for the top dog - or root for their favorite underdog. Each challenge is timed and each score determines who stays in the game and who is sent to the doghouse.
Over the course of three rounds - facing challenges that test the things an owner's dog can do, what the owner can prevent their dog from doing, and how well the owner knows their dog - the competitors are whittled down from five to the final three. These three amazing dog/owner pairs face off in the final and biggest challenge. The winning pair will be awarded with a giant gold hydrant-shaped trophy and that team will be crowned the next DOG PARK SUPERSTARS!
Host Ben Gleib is a stand-up comedian and actor, and is a regular round-table guest on the hit show Chelsea Lately on E!. Esquire named him one of "Six comedians who could be comedy's next big thing." He was recently on tour performing in arenas all over North America, opening for Dane Cook. Gleib was one of the stars of the NBC primetime comedy series THE REAL WEDDING CRASHERS, is currently shooting the lead role in a film called THE POLTERGUYS, and was recently seen on Showtime's THE GREENROOM WITH PAUL PROVENZA. He is also a cast member on the Golden Mic-winning NPR program PATT MORRISON'S COMEDY CONGRESS. He has performed his stand-up on THE LATE LATE SHOW on CBS, NBC's Last Call WITH CARSON DALY and LAST COMIC STANDING. Gleib also headlines comedy clubs and colleges around the globe.
Host Laura Nativo is a certified APDT dog trainer nicknamed "The Fairy Dogmother" for her ability to understand, connect with, and positively impact dogs. She starred in the CBS hit reality show, "Greatest American Dog." With her celebrity Pomeranian, Preston Casanova, Nativo hosts a live interactive show for dog lovers, "Preston's Planet," on TheStream.tv, and will soon be launching her own line of socially conscious, environmentally responsible canine lifestyle products. Nativo volunteers at local animal shelters and is the founder of The Pawtastics, a nonprofit, all-volunteer, therapy dog team comprised of Delta Certified trick-trained dogs, who blend education and entertainment, performing at children's camps, hospitals, nursing homes and other locations. She and Preston were awarded the 2010 "Pet Star" Golden Paw Award at the Westminster Dog Show for their dedication to animal wellness. Laura is proud to be the 2011 spokesperson for the 83rd National Dog Week.
