Congratulations Dan and Ali - in Canada's top 5 at the Schutzhund Nationals!

President of the German Shepherd Dog Club of Calgary Dan Waters earned one of the coveted 5 top spots at the Schutzhund Nationals this past week in Chilliwack BC with his dog Ali vom Daechsel SchH 3. The photo below is of Dan and Ali at the Prairie Regionals where they placed 2nd. Ali made a fine showing despite the incredible heat at the Nationals, with a 95 in Tracking, a 93 in Obedience and a 92 in Protection.

On the GSD Euro list, one of the Nationals helpers, Dorwin (DA) wrote, "There was also a female that Dan Waters handle that stood out"Cherokee Daughter". She was the same it is one of the nicest females I worked in a long time."

I've been getting some help from Dan with my boy Caden, since Dan and Susan live in Red Deer! Pretty good helper for me, hey? Lucky me! I have been laying some tracks for Ali too, from time to time. Below Ali is turning a corner at the Prairie Regionals tracking test. The judge was Lance Collins. Lance placed 2nd at the Nationals.
The overall winner was Ralph Gilby (98, 94, 97), followed by Lance Collins (96, 96, 95). Then Gabi Hoffman (98, 89, 96), Moira Sutherland (95, 95, 91) and Dan and Ali rounding out the top five in Canada. These five qualify for the World Trials representing Canada!

Way to go Dan and Ali! Whoo hoo!! Yay Calgary!
By the way, Brian and Ali the Bouvier also made a fine showing. The tracking in the heat was rough for many of the dogs. Ali's scores were 82, 93 and 97. The judge Thomas Lapp had high compliments for Ali saying what an honour it was to judge such a great Bouvier. Brian and Ali just won the Prairie Regionals, and Ali was the #1 Bouvier in the World two years ago.
